M. Ferne (Hoar) McCurdy
M. Ferne McCurdy, 97, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at
The Moncton Hospital on Thursday, September 28, 2017. Born in Hebron,
she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Leona (Marks) Hoar.
Ferne worked as an RNA in St. Stephen from 1959 –
1982. She was a past member of the singing group « The
Incredibles » and past President of the Riverview Seniors
Club. Early in her retirement years, she enjoyed travelling and going
on bus trips. Her hobbies included playing the piano, singing, cooking
and baking, knitting and crocheting.
Ferne will be sadly missed by her son, Leslie Stiles;
grandchildren, Susanne Stiles, Lynette Anderson, Christina Stiles,
Glen McLeod (Juanita), Craig McLeod (Bernice), Kelly Graham (Greg),
Wade Butland (Tara) and Warren Butland (Cindy); sisters, Ella Calvert,
Marjorie Cook and Elsie Frizzell (Grant). Also survived by numerous
nieces, nephews, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her
husband, Granville « Hub » McCurdy; son and
daughter-in-law, Dale and Carla Butland; daughter, Patricia Stiles;
sister, Greta Madeline Stinson and brothers-in-law, Bill Calvert and
Wes Cook.
Visitation will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657
Mountain Road, Moncton on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00
pm. A Service to celebrate and honour Ferne’s life will be
held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, October 2, 2017 at
11:00 am with Rev. Harold MacDonald officiating. Reception to follow
the service in the Funeral Home Reception Centre. Interment will be
held in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
