Killorn (Leger), Lucille Mary Eleanor
Our Mom died peacefully on Dec 7, 2016, at White Hills Long Term Care, with family by her side; five days before her 88th birthday. She was born in Saint John, New Brunswick to the late Oswald and Muriel (Whelpley) Leger. She graduated from St. F.X. in 1951 with a BSC in Home Economics. She married Bill Killorn, the love of her life, in August of 1952. They were fortunate enough to celebrate almost 60 years together. She taught for a year before she and Dad started their family of nine children. She was a gentle soul with a sweet smile and a quirky sense of humour. She taught us all by example, how to be kind and thoughtful. Over the years, she volunteered for many charitable organizations and as a grandmother, she knitted many sweaters and even taught some grandkids how to bake. Well before Fixer Upper TV shows, Mom and Dad enjoyed working together on many home projects such as laying hardwood floors, hanging wallpaper, and refinishing furniture. She is survived by her nine children, Michael (Janet), Patrick (Laurie), Barbara, Stephen (Tammy), Maureen (Jim) Boudreau, Matthew (Cindy), Frank (Chris Hayes), Paul (Sarah), and Robert (Paan); Grandchildren, Bill, Tess, Peter, Jacob, Max, Marc, Katie, Alex, Rachel, Spencer, Julia, Sam, Lindsay, Lily, and Jackie. She is also survived by her brother, Frank (Prissy) Leger and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Bill (2012); sister, Anne Marie Maloney and her nephew, Dan Maloney; brother-in-law, John Killorn, sisters-in-law, Mary Collins and Blanid Bowes. The family would like to thank the caring staff at White Hills LTC. Visitation will take place at Atlantic Funeral Homes, 6552 Bayers Rd, Halifax, on Monday, Dec. 12th from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Mom’s life will be celebrated at St. Ignatius Church, 1288 Bedford Hwy, Bedford on Tuesday, Dec. 13th at 2:00 pm with a reception to follow at the parish hall. Flowers are welcome if so desired or a donation may be made in mom’s memory to a charity of your choice. Interment will take place in Saint John, NB in the spring of 2017. Online condolences can be made by visiting the Halifax chapel at www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com
