Obituary It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Louise Chelkowski on Thursday, June 9, 2016, shortly after her 79th birthday. Louise will be sadly missed by her devoted children: Monica (Bruno), Joanne (Lee), Bernard (Joelle), and Pierre (Tammy); as well as 9 grandchildren. She leaves to mourn her loss, her extended family here, in Quebec, and Germany; as well as many dear friends. She is predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Leo in 2009. Immediately following her nursing training in 1957, Louise ventured across the country with her best friend to pursue her career. With limited command of the English language, she embarked on what was to be a lifelong challenge to make the world a better place. She soon met Leo and began a short courtship which led to marriage and 4 children over the next 4 years. Throughout her life, she kept her adventurous spirit and enjoyed extraordinary travels around the world. She was also actively involved in the lives of all of her children and grandchildren, and they have wonderful memories of her loving influence. Louise’s home was the hub of countless family gatherings and always included good food and the occasional bottle(s) of wine. She loved tending to her orchids and enjoying the outdoors, seeding tomatoes and devouring huge salads of mesclun from her garden. We will miss her dearly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 16, 2016 at the St. Albert Catholic Parish, 7 St. Vital Avenue, St. Albert, Alberta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Albert Sturgeon Hospice Association, P.O. Box 65105, Mission Hill Plaza, St. Albert, AB T8N 5Y3.
