1926-2016
Lorne McDonald of Riverview passed away at The Moncton
Hospital on Thursday, August 25, 2016. Born in Isle aux Morts, NL, he
was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Lorne served with the Merchant Navy during WWII from 1939
– 1945 for which he received the Atlantic Star Award for his
service. He later continued his career as a Captain of several oil
tankers as well as ferries between New Brunswick and PEI. In his spare
time, he enjoyed woodworking and puttering around in his
basement.
He will be dearly missed by his loving daughters Sharon
(Robert Lingley) of Burlington, ON, Susan (Jordan McDonald) of
Richibouctou Village; his granddaughter Nicole McDonald-Rode; as well
as several nieces and nephews. Lorne was predeceased by his wife
Millie (Mercer).
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of
Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine Rd.,
Riverview, (869-2007). A private family graveside service will take
place at a later date in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. Online
