Lorne Campbell November 10, 1942 – February 7, 2016

CAMPBELL, Lorne Frederick Lorne Campbell of Whitby, Ontario, died Sunday February 7, 2016 at the age of 73, peacefullyat home with his wife of 53 years, Claire (née Kenney). He also leaves behind his deeply loved children, Glen (Michelle), Grant (Sonja), and Erin (John Catto). Always good for a story, one of Lorne’s favourite topics was his grandchildren, and Kady (Evan), Erin, Erica, Lexi, Emma, Jackson, and Griffin, will treasure their Pop always. Lorne was born in 1942 in Whitby to the late Matthew and Margaret (née Griffin). One of six children, he will be missed by his siblings Cathy Wiswell (Tom Kerr), Barry (Gloria), and was predeceased by Joyce (Bill) Laycoe, Matthew (Carol), and Lorraine (Ron) Rickard. Lorne cherished his many cousins, nieces, nephews, and in-laws. Whitby Minor Sports was a source of great pride and joy for Lorne, whether it be as a player, a coach, the past president of Whitby Minor Baseball, and more recently, a spectator. Lorne thoroughly enjoyed hockey and baseball, and those he met and coached throughout the years. Finally, the family would like to thank most sincerely the Emergency Response Team that showed such compassion, and kindness. The family would also like to thank the many wonderful doctors and nurses that took such good care of him, most notable Dr. Batu Malek, who offered great comfort in his last few years. As per Lorne’s wishes, there will be a Celebration of Life to be held in the spring. In Lorne’s memory, the family suggests donations to your charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to Mount Lawn Funeral Home, 905-443-3376. Memories may be shared at www.mountlawn.ca
