Lloyd Raymond (Tom) Barwise
1937-2017
Lloyd Raymond (Tom) Barwise died in the early hours of
Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Palliative Care Unit of DECH. He was
surrounded by family and many of his friends who sat vigil and sang
songs with us at the end of his life. Tom was born May 30, 1937 in
Oleary/Springfield West, PEI. He was raised on a farm and when it was
time to move on he worked in Alberta and Ontario. After Tom and Noreen
were married they moved to Fredericton, NB in 1960, where he worked
with Eastern Bakeries for seven years. This was an important
part of his life because his territory was « over north »
where he made many lifelong friends.
He is survived by his wife, Noreen (Bryan) Barwise,
daughters, Michele (Barwise) and Penny Barwise, both of Fredericton
and by his beloved grandson, Zacary Morris, Fredericton. He is also
survived by brothers, Sherrill Barwise (Anne) of Springfield West, PEI
and Bud Barwise (Marion) of Whitby, Ont, his nieces and nephews, Wayne
and David Barwise, Lisa, Dionne, Ellen and Denice Barwise, Troy and
Todd Murray, brother-in-law, Clair Bryan of Timberlea, NS,
sister-in-law, Helen MacLean Bush, her sons, Rod MacLean (Pam), and
Charles MacLean (Carol), Kelowna and Calgary
respectively.
Tom was predeceased by his parents, Jennie (MacPherson)
Barwise and Lloyd Barwise, his sister, Betty Murray and an infant son,
John Michael Barwise in 1965.
Tom retired as an insurance broker in 2002 but has continued
to be active as a major supporter of the family business, his snooker
league, and chief cook for the family. He has always enjoyed anything
competitive such as golf, curling, bowling, darts, and card games. In
earlier years he loved to go fishing and visiting his friends at their
hunting camps.
Most of all, he was a great father to his girls and to their
friends. He loved their music, their jokes and the times they spent
around the kitchen island and the barbeque. Many have kept a vigil at
the hospital for the past few days. Our family truly appreciates their
company and we know that it shows the high regard they had for Tom
over the years.
The funeral is under the direction of McAdam’s
Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm on Wednesday, April
12 at McAdam’s Funeral Home.
The celebration of Tom’s life will be at St.
Paul’s United Church on Thursday, April 13 at 2PM.
There will be lots of music and a few friends and relatives
paying tribute to their buddy. Reverend Richard Bowley will bring the
message.
Cremation has taken place with interment in the family plot
at Rural Cemetery Extension at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, any donations may be made to the charity
of choice or to St. Paul’s United Church or the Palliative
Care Unit at DECH.
