Obituary of Lillian Blumhagen
Lillian Loretta Helen Blumhagen was born to Jean and Theresa Cordel on the Cordel farm. Lillian took her schooling at the Apremont School in the Painthearth county. Lillian loved dogs, particularly one called Buxsie. After she finished school, she cooked for her dad’s threshing and mine crew. When Art returned from the war, they started courting and were married on June 3rd, 1947. Lillian worked hard on the farm, raising huge gardens for resale at the local store and keeping the nails shining on the old kitchen floor. She was interested in Indian artifacts spent many hours arrowhead hunting. She could make creative treasures out of scraps that most people would throw away. Keeping her yard on the farm perfectly groomed was a pride and passion for her. Lillian was always up to date on her current events and weather forecasts. She was a positive person who loved life.
Lillian was predeceased by her loving husband Art, her father Jean, mother Theresa, granddaughter Colleen and grandsons Evan and Andrew, two brothers Emile and Albert, one sister Denise and 18 brothers and sisters-in-law.
Lillian is survived by her children Don (Eileen), Betty Coulthard (Bob), and Lyle (Janice); six grandchildren Chris (Dawn), Dean (Jenny) Troy (Jennifer), Levi (Irasema), Kendra (Mark), and Witten (Alix); twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law Ruth Turigan and Theresa Blumhagen and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 3, 2017, at the Forestburg Community Centre. Memorial donations in memory of Lillian may be made to the Flagstaff Food Bank or to the Forestburg Enhancement Fund.
