Obituary for Katherine « Kay » McDonald (Dunn)
On Tuesday, December 12th, 2017, in her 92nd year, God called home his beloved child Katherine “Kay” Elizabeth McDonald (nee Dunn).
Born in Toronto, Ontario on December 23, 1925 to parents Perpetua Elvira Dunn (nee Swalm), and James Clarence Dunn. Loving wife of the late John Peter McDonald (1988), retired Superintendent, Ontario Provincial Police. Treasured mother of John William McDonald (Dorothy), and Mary Elizabeth Marriott (Robert). Proud grandmother of Dr. Megan McDonald Gilmore (David), Kelly Lauren McDonald, Robert Jeffrey Marriott, and Kate Elizabeth Marriott. Proud great grandmother of Jack David Gilmore, Emmett Jeffrey Marriott and Jax Robert Marriott.
A former resident of London, Ontario, Kay lived in Sudbury for the past 42 years, loved “the North” and the many social activities that the area offered. A violinist, pianist and music lover from an early age, for over 30 years Kay enjoyed performing with the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra. She often shared her joy of music with residents of Extendicare and other facilities, playing for those unable to attend concerts.
Kay lived a life of devotion to God, was a member of All Nations Church, loved her bible study group and the Ladies Prayer Team.
Kay always celebrated life with her cherished family and friends. She had a caring word and a laugh for everyone. As she did with her favorite buffet, in life, Kay always started with the dessert first.
Kay passed very peacefully and asked to be remembered in life, and at her request, there will be no service. Interment will take place in London, Ontario. Those wishing to make a donation in her memory are asked to consider All Nations Church, 414 St Raphael St, Sudbury ON, P3B 1M4, or the Canadian Bible Society.
“And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” 1 Peter 5:10
At Kay’s request there will be no funeral visitation or service.
