Julia Helen Campbell passed away on July 13, 2017, in the Western Senior Citizens Home in Leader, SK. Julia was born August 15, 1927, on a farm a few miles south of Kyle, SK. In 1945, Julia left home to pursue a career as a school teacher and later taught in the rural Saskatchewan towns of Hudson Bay, SK and Abbey, SK. It was while she was teaching in Abbey that she met her husband Donald Alexander Campbell. After marrying Don on September 27, 1949, Julia began her life in Sceptre, SK as a substitute teacher, Don’s dedicated grain hauler during harvest, home-maker, and mother. Up until her last days, Julia lived with the heart of a mother–expressed by the daily thoughts of the well-being for her two sons whom she loved very much. Julia was very active in the village of Sceptre and was appreciated for her community involvement via many different organizations. She was part of the UCW (United Church Women) and the Sceptre Recreation Board. Julia was a member of the Royal Purple for 50 years and eventually became a Charter Member. She also served the role of Treasurer of the Sceptre Memorial Gardens for 31 years. Two of Julia’s favourite places were working in her flower garden and coffee and activities with her lady friends. Julia was predeceased by her husband Don; parents Nickolas and Nastunia Kolot; brothers John and Roy Kolot; sister Annie; sister-in-law Ada Kolot; and brothers-in-law Leonard Lee and Bill Anderson. She is survived by her sons Kim and Cal Campbell; brother Raymond (Maxine) Kolot; sister-in-law Helen Anderson; as well as nephews and nieces. A graveside service and interment will be conducted at the Sceptre Cemetery by Pastor John-Mark Bredeson. The song The Old Man by John McDermott is a fitting tribute to the life that our mother and father shared with us sons.
