It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Josephine Dandy, 84, on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines on August 20, 1932, Josie was the daughter of the late Michael and Liza (Williams) Donavon.
Josie was a lifelong resident of Sydney Mines and a member of Immaculate Conception Parish.
Josie always loved her card club, playing Bingo and berry picking. Later in life her joy came with attending the Seniors Day Program and spending time with her friends. Family was very important to her and loved having long visits. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her.
Josie is survived by her children; Irene (Gary) and Colin (Veronica). Also left to mourn are her grandchildren; Tracy (Junior), Troy (Sharon), Beth (Evan), Wayne (Earlene), Michael (Jenn), Kathleen (Dan) and Denis (Liz); her great-grandchildren Tyler, Sarah, James, Jessie, Katie, Emily, Xena and Emma, as well as her great-great-granddaughter Diann, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Josie was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband Colin, daughter Reynelda (Bud), sisters Martina, Mary, Benna, Theresa, Georgina and Mildred, and brothers Tom, Joe, and Doc.
We would like to thank the staff of the Sydney Mines Seniors Day Program and the Northside General Hospital. Your companionship, compassion and professionalism were very much appreciated.
Visitation for Josephine Dandy will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2016, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines. A celebration of her life will take place Saturday, at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. James Oliver officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Josie’s memory may be made to the Sydney Mines Seniors Day Program. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
