Obituary It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Joseph (Joe) Prebushewski on July 11, 2016 at the age of 86. Joe will be fondly remembered as being a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving family, wife of 63 years, Thelma; daughter, Linda (Rajko) Djurisic and daughters, Olivia and Ava; son, Kevin (Sherryl) Prebushewski. He is also survived by his sister, Frances Shynkaruk; brother, Peter (Marie); and brother, Nick (Elric D’Souza) and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was predeceased by his parents, Alex and Tekla; his sister, Pauline Kalinocha; and brothers, John, Charles, and George. Joe was born on June 13, 1930 near Prud’homme, SK. Joe moved to Edmonton, AB in 1949 where he met and married Thelma Fredricks on July 4, 1953. They moved to Saskatoon, SK where he worked for the PCS Cory Potash Mine for over 26 years. After Joe retired in 1995, he and Thelma moved back to Edmonton to be nearer to their children. Joe enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughters. He was passionate about music and loved to play his fiddle, and enjoyed performing with family and friends. Joe passed away peacefully with the loving support of family and the devoted healthcare professionals who cared for him at Norwood Hospice. Prayers for Joe will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at 7:00 PM at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011 – 114 Street, Edmonton with visitation beginning at 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 10:00 AM at St. Josaphat Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 10825 – 97 Street, Edmonton. Interment to follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, 13819 – 82 Street, Edmonton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
