John Smallman
1932-2017
It is with sadness that the family of John Alpheus Smallman
announces his passing on Friday October 13, 2017, at the Saint John
Regional Hospital.
A long-time resident of Fredericton, NB, John was born on May
28, 1932, in Summerside, Prince Edward Island to the late William E.
and Marion (Leard) Smallman. John graduated from Dalhousie University
with a Bachelor of Commerce in 1952, obtained his chartered accountant
designation in 1954 and retired in 1989 after a career with Lee
& Martin, Ernst and Whinney, and KPMG. He was an avid stamp
and rock collector, long-time YMCA fitness enthusiast and a leisurely
outdoorsman.
John is survived by his wife Heather (Lantz) Smallman;
daughters Caroline Smallman and Megan Smallman (Henry Zerbin);
grandchildren Catherine Ritchie (Scott) and Robert Williams; brothers
George (Helen) and Jim (Susan) Smallman; several nieces and
nephews.
In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by
son-in-law Chris Williams.
The family would like to express their appreciation for the
support of the many caring professionals who treated John over the
years.
There will be no visitation or service. Donations in
John’s memory can be made to the charity of the
donor’s choice.
