John Robert
Fulton – 93, Truro,
passed away peacefully, with his loving wife at his side, on Thursday,
December 21, 2017, at Wynn Park Villa, Truro. Born in Glenholme, he
was a son of the late Captain Charles E. and Ethel Blanche (McCulloch)
Fulton.
John was educated in Glenholme, Great Village and Mount
Allison University. He attended Mount Allison University after
returning from the Army where he served overseas in The Service Corps
during the Second World War. After attending Boston School of
Practical Art, he moved to Hamilton, Ontario, where he was the owner
and proprietor of Creative Signs and Display for 40 years until his
retirement. He was an elder at Olivet United Church in Hamilton as
well as an active volunteer with many organizations. In 2007, he and
Jean moved back to Truro.
John is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Jean
(Millard), Truro; children, David and Nancy, Hamilton, Ontario;
grandchildren, Scott Best, Laura Platt, Sarah Henderson, Sean Gowan,
Bethany Gowan, Mary Gowan, Jeremy Gowan, Carly Gowan; 12 great
grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he
was predeceased by his beloved eldest daughter, Sharon Gowan, RN;
brothers, Richard and Arthur.
Private family graveside service will be held at a later date
in Robie Street Cemetery, 125 Robie Street, Truro. Arrangements have
been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young
Street, Truro. Private messages of condolence may be sent to the
