MACDONALD, John Kitchener
Age 84, of Lower Sackville, passed away on December 27, 2016 in the VG Site, QEII in Halifax. Born in Antigonish, and raised in Port Hood, he was a son of the late Dan R. and Florence Ann (MacIsaac) MacDonald (of Port Hood). John was a teacher and principal for over 35 years, most of that time in schools in Halifax County. He loved children and his chosen profession and was involved in many school extracurricular activities. He touched the lives of many over the years, teaching three generations of some families. He was an avid horseman, involved in Standardbred racing for many years. He is survived by sons, Kevin (Lori), Beechville; Ian, Lower Sackville; Dale, Saanichton, B.C.; and daughters, Ann (Randy) Paine, Calgary; and Glenda (Carl) Burlock, Ottawa. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Marguerite Joan (Gavel). Visitation will be in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville, today, Thursday, December 29 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held in St. John Vianney Church in Lower Sackville at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 30.
