Hanewich, John, April 11, 1915 – 2016, passed away peacefully in his 102nd year on October 6th at Hillsdale Estates in Oshawa. John was born to Mildred and Anthony Hanewich in Meacham, Saskatchewan and moved to Courtice in 1936 to reunite with his family who moved there a year earlier. John served in the Royal Canadian Air Force’s Postal Depot in London, England during WWII and later was Supervisor of Oshawa Canada Manpower for 25-years. Beloved husband of the late Lily (nee Johnstone) for 41-years. Dear brother of the late Pete and Olga and surviving brothers Ben and Ernie. Lovingly missed by many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. A sincere thank you to the wonderful and caring staff of Lavender Lane, Hillsdale Estates who compassionately cared for John during his last 3 years. As per John’s wishes, family and friends will be received at MOUNT LAWN FUNERAL HOME & CEMETERY, 21 Garrard Road, Whitby (North of Hwy 2) 905-443-3376 on Friday, October 14th, 2016 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. A funeral service will take place in the Mount Lawn Chapel on Saturday, October 15th, 2016 at 11 am. Interment Mount Lawn Cemetery. A Celebration of his Life will follow at Faith United, Saturday, October 15th at 2 pm. John will be deeply missed and always loved. Memories may be shared at www.mountlawn.ca
