Beato, Joaquina
Passed away peacefully in prayer at Trinity Village on Friday November 4, 2016 at the age of 87.
Joaquina derived her greatest joy from love and dedication to family, her strong work ethic from an early age, and her admiration of beauty in nature. Her favourite pastimes were taking long walks, tea with “minha” Piedade, coffee outings with dear friends, and strolls to Victoria Park with “meu” Eduardo. She enjoyed driving to local farms for fresh produce, baking and cooking her traditional Portuguese specialties, appreciated a good bargain (especially shoes!), relaxed by sewing and crocheting, delighted in finding great deals at garage sales and loved colourful flowers and gardens. Most of all, her contentment came from her love for her grandchildren, who were the light of her life and always foremost in her thoughts. Joaquina spent several years caring for her beloved Eduardo, husband of 57 years, with whom she will enjoy eternal peace and comfort.
Joaquina will be forever missed by her daughter Maria and husband Domingos, and by her treasured grandchildren Alexandra and Michael. She was sister to her precious siblings, Maria (Ze Neto), Joao (Zulmira), and Piedade (Quim), who have welcomed her with open arms. She cherished her dear nieces and nephews… Dianne, Carl, Andrew & Stephen, and Sophia, Chuck, Nicole & Laura, as well as those in Portugal… Nuno, Maria Ines, Maria Joao, Miguel, Ana Raquel, Joao Pedro, and their lovely families.
Thank you to all the wonderful caring angels at Trinity Village Care Centre for their ongoing support, compassion and friendship to Joaquina.
Joaquina’s family will receive relatives and friends from 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday November 9, 2016 at the Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick St., Kitchener, (519) 749-8467. Parish Prayers 8 p.m. Wednesday. Prayers will also be offered at the funeral home on Thursday November 10, 2016 at 10:50 am followed by a procession to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 300 Simeon St., for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. Interment Woodland Cemetery. Reception to follow in the Church Hall. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to Parkinson Society Canada (cards available at the funeral home).
