Kiecman, Jaroslaw « Jerry »
It is with great sadness that Jaroslaw (Jerry) Kiecman passed away peacefully with family by his side on Thursday, September 8, 2016 in Kitchener, Ontario. Born April 16, 1925 in Kalush, Ukraine, separated from his family in 1942 to work in Austria, and then came to Canada in 1947 where he settled in Fort William. He was employed by CNR until his retirement and was a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Transfiguration in Thunder Bay. Living his life peacefully he loved to garden, watch soccer and wrestling.
Jaroslaw was a beloved husband to his wife Donna of 55 years and a loving father to Danny (Donna), Henry and Irene. A proud grandpa of Danielle, Lindsey (Mark), Nicole, Cameron, and a great-grandfather of Ailie and Dylan. He is survived by his sister Victoria with nieces, nephews in Ukraine and a cousin in Winnipeg. Fondly remembered by his cousins Olha Bodnaruk and Slavko Lishchynsky (god son) in Toronto and Stanley Jursza (god son) in Alberta. Special thanks to the staff at Columbia Forest Long Term Care, especially Danuta, Anita, Anna and all the PSW’s for their compassionate care. Thank you as well to the ICU staff and 8C staff at Grand River Hospital.
A Funeral Mass will be held at the Ukrainian Catholic Church of the Transfiguration, Kitchener, Ontario September 15, 2016. Interment in Williamsburg Cemetery.
