NAGY, Janet Mae
Janet Mae Nagy died peacefully at her home in Red Deer, AB on Monday, July 17, 2017 at the age of 97 years. Janet was born November 17, 1919, in Colfax Iowa, the youngest of seven children to William Leonard and Hannah Larson. In 1929, they moved to Hines Creek, AB, to take up homesteading. There she met her husband, John (Jack) Nagy, moving to Edmonton in 1941. Together they raised four children and lived happily in the Belgravia community. Predeceased by her husband in 1971, Janet continued to live an active and fruitful life. Her greatest passion was horseback riding. She also enjoyed travelling, volunteer work, reading and her family. In 2012, she moved to Red Deer to be closer to her daughters.
Janet is lovingly remembered by her children, Judy (LLoyd), Joel (Jim) and John; daughter-in-law, Anne; 5 grandchildren, Lane, Jeff, Cara, Kelly and Jana; 10 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and numerous loving relatives and friends. She is predeceased by her eldest son, Jerry and grandson, Bert (CJ).
Janet will be laid to rest In the Hines Creek Cemetery beside her parents. No memorial service will be held. If friends so desire, a donation may be made in Janet’s memory to a charity of their choice. Thank you to Dr. Willem Myburgh of Red Deer for the wonderful care, and to all the staff at Red Deer West Park Lodge for all that beautiful love and caring you gave Janet.
