Janet Lee (Abrams) Bishop
1955-2017
After a protracted battle with cancer, Janet Bishop passed
away on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the Saint John Regional
Hospital. Janet was born in Saint John, NB on May 30, 1955,
a daughter of Annetta (Stackhouse) and the late Laurence
Abrams.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Terry Bishop; her
mother Annetta Abrams (Stackhouse); her brother Greg Abrams (Jane), as
well as her two aunts that lived with her growing up and are more like
sisters than aunts, Nancy Erb (Stackhouse) and Mary Ann (Neil)
Stephansson (Stackhouse); Janet’s mother in law
Ellen (George) Bishop and her many nieces and nephews and aunts and
uncles.
Janet graduated from Saint John High School in 1973 and
subsequently attended Community College. She retired from her career
in the Library and Archives at the New Brunswick Museum, where many of
her colleagues became lifelong friends.
Janet’s family would like to thank the many
dedicated doctors and staff at the Saint John Regional Hospital who
gave her constant and attentive care throughout the years and
supported Janet in her long and brave battle with her disease. The
family would like to send a special thank you to Ralph Johnson who was
her Extramural nurse throughout the years.
Arrangements have been entrusted to
Brenan’s Bay View Funeral Home, 1461
Manawagonish Road, Saint John (634-7425). The family
will hold a private ceremony and a celebration of her life will be
announced at a future date. For those who wish, donations can be made
to the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation – Oncology
Department.
