James Wilkinson

James A. Wilkinson M.D., F.R.C.S.
1932 – 2016
Peacefully, on August 24th. Jim was predeceased by his sisters Betty Anne (Gord Elliott) and Gail (Bill Jones) as well as his son Tom. Jim reflected happily on his marriage to Beverly (nee Millman) in 1957 with whom he would enjoy the rest of his life. They were proud of their children, Carrie (Tim Bondy); Jennifer (Al Crawford) and Bob (Mary Ryder). Also, they delighted in observing the successful maturation in athletics, academics and social competence of their grandchildren, T.J., Brooke and Jesse Bondy; Jonathan, Cole and Keenan Crawford; Jarrett and Kate Wilkinson. Jim graduated from U.T.S., University of Toronto Schools, in 1951 where he was School Captain in his final year. He then graduated from the Faculty of Medicine, U of T in 1958. He passed the Royal College examination in Surgery in 1974. He practiced surgery at Peel Memorial Hospital, Brampton form 1957- 1997. During that time, he held the position of Chief of Surgery and President of the Medical staff. The only interruptions were volunteer surgical positions at a Mission Hospital in Malawi, East Africa. Sports played an important role in Bev and Jim’s life both as participants and spectators. Their favourite occasions were family gatherings at their island on Stoney Lake. Friends will be received on Monday August 29, 5-8 p.m. at the WARD FUNERAL HOME, 52 Main Street South, Brampton and on Tuesday August 30, 5-8 p.m. at MORLEY BEDFORD FUNERAL HOME, 159 Eglinton Ave. W., Toronto (2 stop lights west of Yonge St.)
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army – att: NTCC, 817 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto, M4P 2L1. Condolences at wardfuneralhome.com or morleybedford.ca
