Obituary of James «Jim» Campbell
James (Jim) Hunter CAMPBELL
August 14th 1938 – November 16th 2017
James Hunter Campbell passed away peacefully on November 16th 2017 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital at the age of 79 after suffering a devastating stroke on July 16th, 2017. Born in Glasgow, Scotland on August 14th 1938 to Daniel & Annie Campbell, he was known as Hunter to his friends and family. He later moved to London to start is career as a Design Engineer Draftsman where he became known as Jim. Later he moved to Leicester, England where he met his loving wife and best friend Elizabeth (Lilly) Campbell who will miss him greatly. Jim was a loving father to his daughters Susan Cowan and Louise Campbell (Glen), who will cherish the wonderful memories of Dad holding their hands, teaching them to run like the wind, sing like there’s nobody listening and laugh throughout anything. He was a wonderful Grandfather to Louise’s children Brittany, Sheena, Victoria, and Susan’s children Hayley & Samantha, where he never held back on comedy acts to keep them laughing.
Jim (Hunter) was the elder brother of Anne Kelly and wonderful uncle to Gillian & Graham. We would like to thank Lilly’s sister Bernie Stafford, her youngest brother John Byrne and their extended families for their loving help and support over the past few months. We would also like to thank the amazing nursing staff at Georgetown Memorial Hospital for their hard work and caring attention to both James and his family during this difficult time.
Jim had an amazing depth of knowledge, strength and a brilliant witty personality; he will be greatly missed by all and cherished in our hearts forever.
Friends will be received at the J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, 11582 Trafalgar Rd., north of Maple Ave., Georgetown 905-877-3631 on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until time of Memorial Service held in the chapel at 2:00 pm.
