James (Jim) Carere

CARERE, James (Jim) Vincent—
Died peacefully at Hospice Wellington, Guelph, on Saturday, October 29, 2016, with his family at his side. Jim Carere, in his 92nd year, was the beloved husband of Dorothy Stella (nee Gibson) Carere (2013). He was the dear father of Kim, Cheri (Dave), Paul “Joe” (Deb), Michael (Lou-Ann), Andrea and Arlene. Jim was the loving grandfather of thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. He is survived by his brother Joseph Carere, by two sisters-in-law Betty Jane and Shirley and by nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Maria (nee Augustino) Carere and by his siblings, Victoria, Louisa (Ralph Valeriote), Mike (Lorraine), Louie, Dominic and Dina (Max Smith).
Jim was a well-known athlete who boxed, played soccer and baseball. He enjoyed playing and refereeing soccer. Jim also loved to hunt and fish. He was a devoted spouse and caregiver to his wife, Dorothy. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought great meaning and joy to his life.
Friends are invited to meet with the family at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Vigil for Jim will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 2 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Church, 175 Emma St., Guelph, on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. Interment, Marymount Cemetery, Guelph. As expressions of sympathy, donations to Hospice Wellington would be appreciated by the family.
