Tresidder, Ivan – Passed away peacefully at Temiskaming Hospital, Monday, April 10, 2017 at the age of 89 years.
A lifelong resident of Cobalt, Ivan was born February 21, 1928 to the late Thomas Tresidder and the late Beatrice Rickard. Ivan worked as a butcher and was owner and operator of Tresidder’s Red and White in Cobalt with his brother Ernie for 25 years. He was a community minded person and very proud of his town. Ivan served two terms on the Town of Cobalt Municipal Council from January 1968 to December 1971 . He also gave of his time to the Cobalt Mining Museum as a Board member, the Cobalt Chamber of Commerce and the Cobalt Coleman Public School Board. Ivan had served as Sergeant Major with the Algonquin Regiment Reserve Unit for 15 years. In his retirement years, Ivan enjoyed woodworking, gardening and creating beautiful Christmas displays in his yard.
Predeceased by his parents, his beloved wife Dorothea Jean [Fleming] and his siblings: Stan [Muriel] Tresidder, Vi [Cliff] Cashmore, George [Marge] Tresidder, Phyllis [Ian] Milroy and Joe [Sandra] Tresidder. He will be missed by his loving daughters: Judith [and her partner Gil] Tresidder of Guelph, Patricia [Daniel] Clattenburg of Cobalt and Dorothy [Bruce] Miller of North Bay. Fondly remembered by his grandchildren: Craig [Lindsay] Clattenburg of Latchford, Mark Clattenburg of Cobalt, Nathan Miller of North Bay, Mathew [Trista] Miller of Callander; and great-granddaughters Liberty Miller, Clara Jean Miller and Izabelle Miller. Also survived by his brothers: Ernie [Yolande] Tresidder of Cobalt, Bill Tresidder and Lawrence [Florence] Tresidder of Haileybury; many nieces and nephews.
The Tresidder family will welcome friends at the Buffam Leveille Funeral Home on Thursday, April 13, 2017 beginning at 9:30am. Funeral services will follow at the Buffam Leveille Funeral Home at 11:am. Reverend Judith Visser officiating. Spring interment will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Cobalt, Coleman, Latchford and Area Food Bank will be gratefully acknowledged. Condolences, contributions and memorial candles may be left at www.buffamleveille.com.
