Irene Forbes

Obituary With strength and dignity, Irene’s spirit embarked on a new journey Wednesday afternoon to the sound of her son Roland’s voice, her husband Doug’s silhouette and her daughter Val’s touch on the piano keys of Irene’s favourite song. Irene was a beautiful homemaker who was committed to living a healthy lifestyle. Irene possessed a great love for the country, natural foods and was widely popular for her special holiday dinners. Nana you will be dearly, dearly missed. Irene is survived by her husband, Doug and her children, Roland LaRose (Mavis), Michelle Feihle (Mike) and Val Hoglund; her step-sons, Kevin Forbes (Betty) and Kelly Forbes; siblings, Dorothy Korth and Laura Scheelar (Doug); grandchildren, Jaclyn Feihle, Matthew Hoglund and Jaimie Hoglund; step-grandchildren, Tara Forbes and Reece Forbes; nephew, Robert Renshaw; niece, Leanne Hlushak (Chris) and her grandnieces, Samantha and Olivia; nephew, Kendall Korth and niece, Twyla Graham (Cameron) and their children, Beth, Christel, Lily and Jarod. Many, many cousins and other dear relatives and close friends who Irene held close to her heart. We will all miss Irene’s natural love, beauty and affection that she bestowed on us all. Unending gratitude goes out to all who helped Irene to ease her journey; family, friends, Dr. Joseph, nurses and volunteers at the Cross, rehab staff at the RAH, Glenrose staff, Lifestyles staff, Dr. Fox, Rod Attwell, Reverend John Burrill and so many others. A viewing will be held at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011-114 Street, Edmonton on Sunday, December 2 from 2-4 p.m. A Celebration of Irene’s Life will be held on Tuesday, December 4 at 1 p.m. at the Highlands United Church, 11305 – 64 Street, Edmonton where they were married nearly 30 years ago. A graveside burial will be held at the Hardisty Cemetery (2 hr drive SE of Edm) on Wednesday December 5 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Laurena Women’s Shelter or the Cross Cancer Institute Patient-centered care.
