Hubert Murray Oickle
Oickle, Hubert Murray, age 94, of Dartmouth, passed away on December 15, 2017 in the Dartmouth General Hospital, with his family by his side.
Born in West Northfield, Lunenburg County, he was the oldest of five children of the late Willis and Lorna (Arenburg) Oickle. He lived in Kempt, Queen’s county, moving to Dartmouth in 1952 with his family, where he lived until his death.
Hubert worked for Dartmouth Building Materials until retiring at age 65 when he began to spend more time at the cabin, hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. He always found time to help family, friends and church with whatever they needed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Phyllis (DeLong); daughters, Linda (Alan) Brown and Suzanne (James) Stephens, all of Dartmouth; grandsons, Kevin Brown (Angele), of Ontario, Derek “D.J.” Hope (Juanita Jackson), of Sask; great-grandchildren Elise and Luc, of Ontario, and Raelyn and Charley of Sask. He is also survived by sister Marguerite (Carl) Sheffer; and brother Kenneth (Judy); sisters-in-law Jeanette Oickle, Dartmouth and Marie Oickle of Ontario; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by brothers, Stewart, and Hector.
Family flowers from immediate family only. Donations may be made to Bethel United Baptist Church or a Charity of Choice.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9pm on Tuesday December 19th in Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth. The funeral service will take place at 2pm on Wednesday December 20th in Bethel United Baptist Church, 316 Windmill Road, Dartmouth, Rev. Dr. Vance Arbeau officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment to take place at a later date.
