Corbett, Helen Rita – It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother Helen, 87, on September 16, 2016 at the Sagewood Care Facility in Sackville, with her daughter by her side. Born in Halifax, she was the eldest child of the late Leo and Mildred (Farrow) Campbell of Halifax. She is survived by her children Mike (Cathy), Patti (Allyn) and Tony (Joanne), as well as being the best « Nan » ever to grandchildren Adam, Joe, Kyle and Erica, whom she cherished more than life. She is also survived by her siblings Jerry, Janet, Donnie, Joanne and Wendy. She was predeceased by her husband Ted Corbett, son Stephen (in infancy), and precious daughter Valerie. She was also predeceased by sisters Marie (Al Vaux), Shirley (Dick Cunning – deceased), and brother, Jimmy (Bev Campbell). In her younger years, she worked at Simpsons-Sears. Later, after her kids were grown and out, she went back into the work force and helped run the Bluenose Motel. Throughout her life, she enjoyed sewing, crafts (ceramics), movies (and the sharing of them), and music; but mostly spending time with her grandchildren. There was always a lot of laughing involved being around her, and she accepted the onset of dementia with dignity and, most importantly, a sense of humour. We would like to thank the Sagewood for the care they provided for our mother over the last couple years. We couldn’t have asked for a more loving “home”; Mum always loved angels, and was surrounded by them daily, providing her care. Visitation will be held 7-9 pm Wednesday September 21st at Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville where a funeral service will be held at 10 am Thursday September 22nd. Rev. James Haughn officiating. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Flowers graciously accepted. Donations may be made to the Sagewood Recreation Fund.
