HELEN ELIZABETH “LIZ” MITCHELL
Born February 26, 1939 – Died peacefully November 28, 2017
The daughter of Grace and John Moore of Mt.Uniacke she was predeceased by her husband Merton Mitchell, the love of her life, and her sons Karl and Raymond. She is survived by son Kirk, daughter Sharon (Guy Soucy) and granddaughter Taylor and daughter in law Marcy Moore. Liz accomplished all her goals in life, the first becoming a wonderful mother and homemaker for her family, while also volunteering in the community as a Brownie leader and later serving as District Commissioner of Girl Guides of Canada. Together with her husband they provided their children with a stable, loving home and many fond childhood memories. After her children had grown she went back to school and started a new career as a teacher and later became a business owner when she founded her own school: Career Academy of Canada. She spent almost 15 years with her wonderful staff working to give their students the skills and experience necessary to find real jobs here in the Maritimes. During her tenure the school maintained a 95% job placement rate for its students, setting them off on the pathway to good careers and productive lives. Liz was an avid traveller who spent 30 years visiting many parts of the world, she spent her retirement years re-visiting a few favourite places with her sister-in-law Thelma Cochrane.
