Gunther Vetter May 2, 1935 – April 22, 2015

VETTER, Günther May 2, 1935 – April 22, 2015 It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Günther passed away suddenly, while enjoying the peace of his community garden. Survived by his loving wife of almost 58 years, Rose, children; Linda (Ron), Richard (Zinha) and Carolyn (Robert) as well as his adored grandchildren; Marc (Samantha), Peter, Christie (Kyle), Matthew, Brian (Rachael), Daniel, Adrienne and Julien, sisters; Christel and Hilda (Wayne) and brother Carl. Günther also leaves behind a much loved extended family in Germany. Günther was born in Hausen, Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1953, settling in Winnipeg, where he met and married Rose in 1957. The family moved to Vancouver in 1968, finally settling in Richmond where they all became active. Günther enjoyed a great long retirement, after 35 years of service at Labatt’s. He was always there to help family, friends and those in need. His favourite place to make memories with friends and family was at Sunshine Valley where he built the family cabin. Günther was an active member of the Kolping Society for 60 years and will be missed by many. We are profoundly grateful for the love that he gave. Prayers on Wednesday April 29th at 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 8251 St. Alban’s Road, Richmond. Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, April 30 at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Paul. Interment at Gardens of Gethsemani, 15800 32nd Avenue, South Surrey. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to “The Door is Open” c/o Catholic Charities, 4885 Saint John Paul II Way, Vancouver BC V5Z 0G3.
