It is with heavy hearts that the family of Gregory Scott Roy has to announce his passing. Please do not say he lost his battle with cancer, because he most certainly won. He fought so incredibly hard, but was called to be with God and his family that have crossed over on December 24, 2015. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his wife and children who loved him unconditionally. He will be greatly missed by Tammy, Shanon, Caitlyn, his grandchildren, extended family and friends. Those of you that knew “Beaver” knew that he was the most compassionate, caring, and funny man. He could tell you whose kid played on what hockey team, what horse ran and won on which date, and all the best fishing spots on Lake Katchewanooka. A huge thank you goes out to the team who helped care for him, this includes the staff at Centenary Oncology, especially his favourite nurses. Another special thank you to the green palliative care team in Durham, specifically nurse Leslie and Dr. Azi. We couldn’t have asked for better care in the comfort of his own home. As per Greg’s wishes, we will not be holding a funeral, but having a celebration of life in June 2016 in honor of his birthday at the racetrack. We take consolation in knowing that in his death, Greg was able to give the gift of life to others. What a beautiful Christmas present he gave. For those so inclined, we encourage you to support organ donation, and take the necessary steps to ensure you can give this beautiful gift as well.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Gregory Roy June 8, 1958 – December 24, 2015.source
