ATKINSON, Gladys (née Trottier), 1939-2016 – Sadly, the boy on the bike has lost his red-headed love. Gladys Atkinson passed away on July 24 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Gladys and George enjoyed 57 years of marriage and three children: Alan (Jannine Stoll), Pakenham; Susan, Ottawa; and Laurie (Glenn Rose), Unionville. Gladys love of family, cooking, dancing, travelling and her indomitable spirit will be missed by four grandchildren Emily, Aidan and Erin Atkinson and Noah Rose. Gladys was the daughter of Cecile Leroux (née Beauregard) and Denis Trottier, and sister to Lynn Trottier, Robert Trottier and (late) Jim LaRue. A private funeral service will be held. Alzheimer’s is an irreversible brain disease without known cause or cure. It is debilitating and alienates the patient from their known world, so constant care and understanding are vital. George and the family greatly appreciate the care and kindness that St. Joseph’s Villa staff provided to Gladys. If so desired, contributions in her memory to St. Joseph’s Contiuing Care Centre or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to long-standing family friends, Bonnie and Allan Wilson, of Wilson Funeral Home.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Gladys Atkinson.source
