Obituary of Gerard Winterhalt
We announce with sadness that our dear John passed away peacefully at The Westmount on May 25, 2017 at the age of 77 years. He is survived by his loving daughter, Mary Ann, cherished granddaughter, Cate, dear brother, Michael (Pamela) and their family. John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary (nee O’Sullivan), and his parents Gerard Joseph and Ruth (nee Weber) Winterhalt.
John touched many lives and hearts in his lifetime. He was a true testament to strength and perseverance. We loved him well.
He set an example for all of us by working hard at everything in his life. John was involved in a tragic accident almost 17 years ago in which he sustained a traumatic brain injury. He fought a tremendous battle to regain a quality of life that brought him many years of joy and love. On behalf of our family we wish to extend our deepest gratitude to the numerous friends and caregivers who supported our family after his injury.
A very special thank you to Christina, Dr. Melanie Carothers, Dawn, Rebecca and Melanie and to all those who never gave up on him. We are eternally grateful.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, 173 Lourdes Street, Waterloo on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 10:30 am with the Rev. Rafal Toman as Celebrant. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. Private interment at Woodland Cemetary, Kitchener.
As an expression of sympathy, donations to SickKids Foundation would be greatly appreciated and may be arranged through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Gerard
