Gerald Lewis Steeves
Gerald Steeves, 91, of Moncton, died on May 3, 2017 at The
Moncton Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Hillsborough, NB, he
was the son of Watson and Alice (Jonah) Steeves.
Gerald was a dedicated employee of Lounsbury Company Ltd. for
more than 44 years retiring as Parts Manager for the Moncton motor
branch in 1991. He was a faithful member of The Journey Church
(Brentwood Campus).
Gerald will be deeply missed by his daughter, Nancy (Dawn);
Connie and Jim Rossiter, Beth and Harry Steeves, Lauralee and Bill
Kennedy, along with his many nieces and nephews; great nieces and
nephews; and his sisters, Margaret Dixson and Mildred Fenton. He will
also be missed by the members of the Smearer family. In addition to
his parents, Gerald was predeceased by his beloved wife, Verna, in
2011 after nearly 59 years of marriage and his brother, Harold in
2012.
Visitation will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657
Mountain Road, Moncton (885-1995) on Friday, May 12 from 2pm to 4pm. A
Service to celebrate Gerald’s life will be held in the
Chapel at Fergusons Funeral Home on Saturday, May 13 at 2pm. A
reception will follow.
The family expresses sincere gratitude to the staff on Unit
34/35 and the palliative care team on Unit 36 of The Moncton Hospital
for the exceptional care Gerald received during his
hospitalization.
