Georgina Lavina Steeves
Georgina Lavina Steeves, 76, of Mapleton Road, Moncton, with
her loving family at her side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton
Hospital on Thursday, February 9, 2017. Born in Springhill, NS on
January 1, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Hilbert and Nancy
(Clark) Brown and stepmother, Faith (Lutes) Brown.
Georgina worked as a computer operator with Blue Cross and
Maple Leaf Foods and was a local Avon Representative. She
was a founding member of The Hillside Baptist Church and was actively
involved in the following groups: Joan McSwain WMS and Senior Bible
Study on Monday Mornings. Georgina was a faithful volunteer in the
Nursery for various services, and a greeter and usher.
She was a member of the Wednesday and Friday morning Bowling
League, the Citation Indians Trailer Club, where she was past
President, and former member of the Celiac Association.
Georgina and Reg enjoyed travelling in their motor home
across Canada and Alaska and spent many winters in Florida. They loved
attending many Blue Grass festivals in Canada and the US and enjoyed
many local Blue Grass camp-outs, where she frequently performed.
Georgina enjoyed babysitting for her grandchildren and great
grandchildren, reading and doing puzzles.
Georgina is survived by her husband of 54 years, Reginald
« Reg » Steeves; daughters, Cynthia Duncan (David) of Sherwood
Park, AB and Shelley Keith (Brian) of Riverview; son, Rodney Steeves
(Lisa) of Riverview; grandchildren, Robert Duncan (Sue), Courtney
Maron (Jason), Jessica McCaughey (Josh), Kathleen Keith
(BJ), Rebecca Keith (Alpha), Devin Keith, Dakota Steeves (Jonathan)
and Riley Steeves; great grandchildren, Katelyne, Xander, Claire,
Austin, Jude, Mamadou, Emily, Roselyn, Lennon and Jonah; sister, Betty
Innes (Aubrey) and several nieces, nephews and extended family
members. In addition to her parents and stepmother, she was
predeceased by three sisters-in-law and one
brother-in-law.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road,
Moncton (858-1995) on Saturday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and Sunday from
1:00 to 4:00 pm. A Service to celebrate Georgina’s life will
be held at Hillside Baptist Church, 2290 Mountain Road, on Monday,
February 13, 2017 at 11:00 am with Pastor Jerry Reddy officiating.
Reception to follow the service. Interment will be held at Fair Haven
Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Georgina to
Hillside Baptist Church Building Fund or a memorial of the
