Obituary of George Cain
George « Judd » Cain – We lost a very special man this week. George died peacefully with Lola (his loving wife of over 69 years) at his side on Monday, December 11, 2017, in his 94th year. George is the son of the late Michael and Katie. He is the dear brother of the late Olive, Murray, Harold, Marion, Stanley, Andrew, Catherine and Mark. He had time to say farewell to children: Laura (Randy), Michael (Bbei), Adele (Mark), David (Janis), Peter (Maureen) and Paul (Connie). An amazing grandfather to Marcus (Margo), George, Brent (Nancy), Jessica (Scott), Lucy, Will (Jen), Martin (Jennifer), Allison, Tim, Rod (Danielle), Rob, Alex (Allison), Michael (Jamie). He loved his great grandchildren: Dylan, Carter, Kaylee, Alexa, Jordan, Landyn, Eloise, Annabel, Finn, Norah, Brayden, Taya, and Stella. Thoughtful George, volunteered at numerous places, and always fought for the underdog. As an employee of Canada Manpower, he single-handedly settled over 100 refugees in the Peterborough area in the 1980’s. Kind, gentle, compassionate, in the moment, non-judgmental, great sense of humor, and loved to travel are a few words to describe George. Visitation will be held at the Ashburnham Funeral Home 840 Armour Road, Peterborough, on Saturday December 16th from 5-7pm and Sunday December 17th 2-3pm. Service will follow, in the chapel, at 3pm on Sunday December 17th, with a reception to follow.
