Hatfield, George Otis
Age 82, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2017, at the Dartmouth General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Springhaven, Yarmouth Co., he was the son of Fred and Eugenie (Muise) Hatfield. He was a graduate of St. FX and worked as a field engineer and construction superintendent until his retirement. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, as well as woodworking and cutting and splitting his own wood. He patiently endured a long battle with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma exacerbated by prostate complications. George had a deep love of family and was proud of all their accomplishments.
George leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Marilyn (Surette) Hatfield and his children; Ian (Kim Roche), Nicole (James Dunbrack), Calvin (Sherry Hanna), Tanya (Paul Evans), and Krista (Kendall Taylor) and grandchildren; Jake Hatfield, Aaron and Bryn Dunbrack, Lindsay and Kirby Hatfield, Jordan, Connor, and Lena Evans, Courtney and Sarah Taylor, and greatgrandchild; Aidan Dunbrack and brother; Paul (Dianne) Hatfield, PEI. He was predeceased by sister Janice (Richard) Whitman and brother Clinton Hatfield. No visitation by request. Funeral mass will be held at St. Thomas More Church, 15 Caledonia Rd. on Friday, January 5, 2018, at 11:00AM with Father Henry Ebo officiating. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, VG Hematology and Urology clinics, Dartmouth General Hospital, or VON.
