Knezevich, George
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving husband, father
and dida, George (Duro) Knezevich on Friday, October 21, 2016, at the age of 68,
after a short battle with cancer.
George will be forever remembered by his wife of 43 years, Nadia; his daughter
Djurda (Ivica) Tomkovic in Croatia; son Mark (Jaqui) and granddaughters Eva and Lucy; son Matthew (Amy) in Edmonton; and sister and brother-in-law Sonja (Misko); numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Ivan and Kaja; his brothers Mato, Vinko, Stevo;
and sisters Manda, Teresa (Mark), and Marija (Mark) in Croatia.
George moved to Canada in 1976 and took pride in the life and family he built in the
following 40 years, and did everything he could to ensure his family’s success. He
was dedicated to his occupation, took a tremendous amount of pride in his work, and
did his best to pass on his knowledge to those he mentored. He loved Edmonton
summers, birds, and his fruit trees. Following his diagnosis, some of his fondest
memories were made in his back yard with his family and grandchildren. He will be
greatly missed.
Prayers will be said on Thursday October 27, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Chapels. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday October 28, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Nativity of Mary Croatian Church 10560-98 Street, Edmonton. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery
