Stewart, Garnet Haig – on Friday March 11th, passed away peacefully, in his ninety-sixth year. Beloved husband of the late Grace (Coe) Stewart for 65 years. Loving father of John (Margaret), Debbie (William McKelvey), Cathy (Richard Rostkowski), Lori Clint (Colin McCarthy) and David (Tammy Lalone). Proud “Paw” to Sean McKelvey, Angela Hampson (Mike), David Stewart (Kelly), Heather Stewart-George (Will George), Lauren Clint (Mitchel Owen), Nicole Clint, Ryan Rostkowski (Angela Lyttle) and Deanna Rostkowski. Great grandfather to Savannah Stewart, Erica Stewart, Emily George and Tristan Hampson. Dad was a veteran, having served with the Royal Air Force during World War II and built his own home, and many others, in North York after the war, before going into teaching. He was a woodworking teacher at Castle Frank High School in Toronto until he retired. Many thanks to Dr. Brian Reed and the devoted and caring staff on the Assisted Living Floor of The Village of Taunton Mills, as well as the many kind volunteers. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army, would be appreciated. As per his wishes, there will be no visitation and a private family service at a later date.
