Freida Siewert (Eshpeter)
Born October 20, 1919, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 21 2017 in Edmonton at the age of 98. She was predeceased by her husband, Elmer and her ten brothers and sisters. Freida is lovingly remembered by her only daughter and best friend Beverly Darbyshire and many nieces and nephews.
Freida led an active life which started by standing on her Pa’s shoes and learning to dance. She was the first baseman on the family baseball team, she also curled and skated before leaving home in the early 1940’s.
Freida moved to Edmonton and learned to be a secretary before working for Unemployment Insurance, then moved to Calgary to be an executive secretary at Imperial Oil. Freida lived near the Stampede Grounds, played golf, taught swimming, continued to curl and began traveling. While in Hawaii Frieda met her husband.
By 1963, Frieda was living in Drumheller as a new wife, mother and restaurant owner. She continued to remain active in sports, playing bridge and added organ teacher to her list of accomplishments.
Many years after Elmer’s death, Freida moved to Edmonton in 2000 where she continued to play golf and bridge until recently.
