It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of François Le Guen on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 in Montreal. He was a devoted husband for 49 years to his wife, Mariane (née Geffroy), a wonderful father to Marc, Charles (Heather), Anne (Kevin) and Richard (Christina) and a very proud grandfather to Jack-Roland and Henrik. He was surrounded by family for his final 24 hours as they shared memories, sang love songs, and recited prayers together amidst hugs, tears and laughter. He also leaves behind his sisters Marguerite and Thérèse (Brian), his brothers Michel (Anne-Marie), Jean (Ruth), Cyril (Marie-Lise), Philippe (Lise) and Yves (Linda), and his half-brother, Louis (Christiane). François was born on January 14, 1935, in Mauritius. He earned degrees in engineering at the University of Manchester and University of London (in the UK) before coming to Canada with Mariane in 1970. He worked as an engineer at Atomic Energy of Canada for 27 years. He always loved the violin and enthusiastically learned to play at age 58. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was passionate about learning and teaching. He built 40 years of precious memories with his family at our beloved red cottage on Bark Lake. His friends and family knew him for his unique combination of charm, intellect, creativity, patience and modesty. We were blessed to celebrate his 80th birthday this year with champagne, music and family. We are so grateful to have had him in our lives and to have learned from his work ethic, generosity and strength of spirit. We are very thankful to the staff at the Jewish General Hospital, especially the ICU team, for helping him through his last days. The Visitation will be held at Rideau Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home, 4275 boul. des Sources, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC H9B 2A6 on Sunday, July 5, 2015 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held at Mary Queen of Peace church, 11 075 boul. Gouin O., Pierrefonds H8Y 1X6, on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to either the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal, or the West Island Palliative Care Center.

Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de François Le Guen January 14, 1935 – June 30, 2015.source
