It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Francis Jessome, 84, on Wednesday, October 5, 2016, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Boston on November 18, 1931, Fran was the son of the late Anthony and Susan (Riley) Jessome.
He was employed with Marine Atlantic as a stevedore until his retirement in 1996.
Fran lived life to its fullest. He enjoyed fishing at his cabin in Middle River, camping in Dunvegan, and playing his many instruments.
He is survived by his wife and soul mate of 54 years, Sylvia (Williams), his son Darrell (Brenda), and daughter Sharon (Brian Reid). Also left to mourn are his grandchildren Dana, Marissa, Jordan and Chelsea, great-granddaughter Sophie, brother Tony (Cathy), and sisters Catherine (Myles), Ella and Elaine.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Kevin.
We are eternally grateful to have been loved by this kind and gentle man. You will be forever in our hearts. Love you.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, October 8, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Anne Church, Alder Point, with Fr. Peter McLeod officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Fran’s memory may be made to the Cancer Center or the Palliative Care Unit of the Regional Hospital.
