Frances « Fran » Martindale
Frances « Fran » Isobel Martindale, age 86 of Gull Lake, SK, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2017 at Swift Current, SK after her short battle with cancer. The memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. on November 16, 2017 from St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church with Father Anthony Padayatta officiating. The organist was Pam McConwell and the soloist was Jim Kalownowski. The eulogy was read by Bruce Borden. The interment service will be held at a later date. Fran is survived by her son, Barry (Sherry) Martindale; grandchildren, Erin (John) Brett and children, Tristan and Mackenzie, Lisa (Chris) McEachen, Cara (Derek) Jahnke and children Aiden, Elliot and Ainsley, Shay (Heidi) Martindale and child Hudson; brother, Don (Pat) Bester and sister, Pat Barnett; and several nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Bryan Martindale and Curt (Marilyn) Martindale. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Anne Bester; husband, Bill Martindale; son, Edward Joseph; Ed and Lily Martindale; sister-in-law, Jeanne Martindale and brother-in-law, Andy Barnett. Fran was born in Gull Lake, SK on August 11, 1931 to Frank and Anne Bester. She attended school in Gull Lake and she became a telephone operator after graduation. She met Bill Martindale and they married on July 14, 1953. Barry William was born on December 22, 1953. Fran and Bill spent most of their lives running the family farm and after retirement they spent time in Cypress and Arizona. Up to the time of her passing, she was active in the church, quilters and playing bridge. She was a member of the Royal Purple #111, Catholic Women’s League, Gull Lake Quilters and Cypress Quilters. She enjoyed spending time at the cabin with her family and friends. She also enjoyed reading, watching sports, golfing, and crocheting, knitting and sewing. She will be greatly missed in the community and at Cypress Hills. Warren’s Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
