Obituary for Everett Backfat Everett « Classy » Backfat (Inaakimii), born on May 23, 1973, went to the Lord on Tuesday July 19, 2016. As a young man, Classy was involved in the rodeo. He was a champion Bullrider and also participated in Wild Horse Racing. Classy was a natural athlete. He was a champion Boxer and played center position for the various hockey teams. Classy was a loving father to his pride and joys Stran and O’shea. Classy was taught to respect and honor his culture and was one of the few in his generation to fluently speak Blackfoot . His late grandparents, Philip and Jean Backfat, raised him with the values of compassion, hardwork and perseverance. Classy is survived by his mother Julia; his children Stran and O’shea; his wife Kori-Jo Creighton;. sisters Mary (Jerry), Minerva, Simonne, Gisele (Richard), Candace (Natasha) and Melissa Ellis and brother Sherwin Ellis and Shawn Blood (Marci). Nieces Sasha, Leslie, Shawanda, Malika, Phenix, Carlisha, Astokomi, Freedom, Ninakii, Serenity, Diamond and Teja; Nephews Omar, Cuba, Luxton, and Zace, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. Wake service will be held at his mothers residence (little house in the trees) Tuesday July 26, 2016at 6:00 pm. A Celebration of Classy’s life will be celebrated at Gordon Yellowfly Memorial Arbor (Siksika Nation, AB) on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.
