1942-2017
Thursday, November
16th, 2017 at the Campbellton Regional Hospital
at the age of 75, passed away Mrs. Elizabeth Cormier.
Born on October
19th, 1942 in St. Leonard, NB, she was the
daughter of the late Roy and the late Celina (Gagnon) Byram. She was
the youngest of a family of 15 children. At the time of her death, she
had only two sisters left: Nadine of St. Leonard and Gilberte (Gilbert
Fraser) of Grand Falls, NB.
On September 21th, 1963, she married
René Cormier and had three children: Gerard (Janet
Goudreau) of Moncton, Marcel who died at the age of 32 (1997) and
Joanne Cormier of Shediac in addition, she took great care of her
nephew François Cormier (Manon Breton) of Gatineau whom she
considered as one of her own. She loved her grandchildren: Isabelle,
Brigitte, Veronique and Gabrielle of Moncton, Jacob and Noah of
Shediac as well as François’ children: Marie-Helene,
Francis, Frederic and Gabriel of Gatineau. In addition to her husband,
her children, her grandchildren whom she cherished and her two
sisters, she leaves to mourn several members of her in-laws;
sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; Rita Belanger of Edmundston,
Gerard Cormier of Niagara Falls, Madeleine (Paul Martin) of Ste. Anne
of Madawaska, Jean-Guy Cormier (Michelle) of Campbellton, Donat
Cormier (Donna) of Niagara Falls, Therese (Peter Breau) of Shediac as
well as several nephews and nieces and a large number of
friends.
She worked for many years in the
operating room at the Campbellton Regional Hospital and retired in
1997.
Even with the great love she had for
her husband, her children, her grandchildren, her family and her
friends, her great desire to live, in addition to the good care
provided by the Campbellton medical staff and Moncton she could not
conquer her illness (cancer). But her spirit remains with us. From
heaven with her son, her parents, brothers and sisters she will know
how to prepare a place for us and will look after us
forever.
In her memory, donations can be made
to: the Tree of Hope, the Palliative Care Unit or the Oncology
Department of the Campbellton Regional Hospital and the Canadian
Cancer Society.
