Elise Rita Addison passed away on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the Grace Hospice in Regina.
Elise was born in Marcelin, SK on January 15, 1925 to Eugenie and Harmidas Bonin, pioneers in that district.
The second youngest of a large family, she completed high school and a one year commercial course in her home town. She did secretarial work in Saskatoon and Melfort before moving to Regina in 1946 where she worked for the provincial government.
In 1953 she married Bob Addison and soon began raising her family; Bill, Glenn, Neil, and Lorraine. Elise was struck a severe blow in 1989 by the loss of Neil.
Lorraine has special needs and Elise volunteered many hours over many years with Special Olympics and with the bowling league for the mentally handicapped. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Women’s Auxulliary and the Army, Navy, and Air Force Veterans Ladies Auxilliary.
In 2011 Elise left the home she and Bob had built and joined the community at Broadway Terrace. There she flourished, making many new friends and enjoying the wide variety of activities there.
Elise was predeceased by her husband Robert; parents, three sisters and two brothers; and son Neil.
Elise is survived by her daughter Lorraine and sons Bill, Glenn (Cheryl) and their children Brent, Steven and Lauren; daughter-in-law Linda and her children Leah and Jeffrey; brother Auguste; and many nieces and nephews.
Elise’s family thank those who eased the last steps of her journey. In particular the team at Broadway Terrace whose energy and compassion helped her access palliative care in the last weeks of her life, and wonderful teams at the Palliative Care Unit at Pasqua Hospital and the Grace Hospice.
A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at Regina Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4001 East Victoria Avenue, Regina, SK on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.
