The death of Eldon Archibald Giggie of the Miramichi Senior Citizen Home Veterans Wing and formerly of the O’Keefe Road, Miramichi, NB, occurred at his residence on Monday, December 4, 2017 at the age of 101. Born in the Old Bathurst Highway, NB, Eldon was the son of the late Archibald and Mable (McKay) Giggie. Eldon was a Veteran of World War 2 and retired from the Department of Transportation and also attended the Bethel United Church. Eldon will be sadly missed by his daughter Pearl Ann Giggie of BC; two sons Keith (Elaine) of Miramichi, NB and Carl of BC, daughter–in-law Karen Giggie of Miramichi, NB, two sisters: Edith Hemmingway of ON, and Ruby Cockwill of Moose Jaw, SK, sister-in-law Marine Clark of Miramichi, NB, three granddaughters: Kim MacDonald (Mark), Roslyn Bell (Bruce) and Charlene Harding (Jason), one great grandson Jamie MacDonald and one great granddaughter Lauren Harding. Besides his wife Catherine (Carruthers) Giggie, Eldon is predeceased by one son: Eldon Giggie Jr, five brothers Robert, Norman, Lester, Harris and Marven, four sisters Violet, Mary, Hazel and Myrtle. At the request of the family there will be no visitation at the funeral home. A public funeral service will be held at the Sterling Bell Memorial Chapel on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 1 PM with Rev. Gerald Blaquiere officiating. Burial will follow in the Moorefield Cemetery. In Eldon’s memory a donation may be made to the Miramichi Senior Citizen Home, Veterans Wing or the Bethel United Church Cemetery Fund.
