It’s with love and respect we announce the peaceful passing of our precious mother, Eileen Mary Moore (Pero), 93, on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Florence on September 8, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John and Rebeccah (Bonnar) Pero. She was a life-long resident of Florence.
Left a widow at the age of 33, with three small children, Mom had many challenges, both personal and health wise, but with a combination of her very strong faith and willful determination, she was adamant that she would not only survive, but thrive. She just would not give up. Mom loved to cook and bake, and if anyone did her an act of kindness, she was sure to return the favour with some tasty baked goods.
Eileen is survived by her daughter Ginny, and her son Howie (Debbie). Also left to mourn are her brothers Bazil (Pat), Yarmouth, and Jimmy (Frances), Sydney Mines, sisters Elva King, Watertown, Mass., and Rebeccah (Bunnie) (Hector) Dipersio, Sydney Mines, her treasured grandchildren; Savannah (Nick Hawkins) and Bhreagh, both of Ft. McMurray, and Jocelyn and Ryan, at home, her cherished great-granddaughter Samantha, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Eileen was predeceased by her husband Leroy (Joe), son Roy, brothers William (Dick), Alex, Ray, Lorne and Jack Pero, and sisters Mae Ivey and Millie Coady.
We would like to thank all the staff of the Miner’s Memorial Manor for the last twelve years of personal, kind and compassionate care. We would also like to thank Dr. Michel McKeough for his care, and the nurses on 4th Floor, Northside General Hospital for going over and above the call of duty.
Visitation for Eileen Moore will be held today, (Monday) , April 3, 2017, in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A celebration of her life will take place Tuesday, at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr.
