Earl Edward Chisholm 83, Port Hawkesbury passed away Monday August 29, 2016 at the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston.
Born in Inverness, he was a son of the late Daniel James and Florence (MacLellan) Chisholm. Earl began his working carrier as plant operator of Cape Breton Concrete during the construction of the Pulp Mill and later worked in Construction. He was a self taught musician, and enjoyed sharing his gift of music with many, in his younger years he performed weekly on a radio program on CJFX, and offered his talents at many local concerts and festivals, for many years was the guitarist for St. Lawrence Parish Choir, Mulgrave. Earl was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43, Port Hawkesbury and parishioner of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury.
He is survived by his daughter Marlene (Clark) Ryan, Port Hawkesbury; grandchildren Evan (Shauna) Ryan, Port Hawkesbury; Marsha (Kyle) Hoben, Halifax and great grand child Vance Ryan; sisters Chrissie (Joe) Wood, Aulds Cove and Florence Brennan, Mulgrave. Earl will be missed by his many nieces and nephews.
Earl was predeceased by his wife Elsie, brothers John, Andy, William and Lawrence, sisters Kaye MacDonald and Margaret MacEachern.
Resting in Green’s Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, from where a vigil service will be held at 7 pm Wednesday; Funeral Mass will be offered Thursday at 10 am from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Rev. Bernard MacAdam, presiding; burial will follow in the Parish Cemetery.
