WESTERMANN, Dr Jean Earldene (nee Mills) –
Passed away peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at the age of 87 following a brief illness. Beloved wife of the late Gerd Westermann (2014). Dear step-mother of Robert, Carola (Lee Chambliss) and Gerold (Laurie Columbus). Cherished grandmother of Tara, Campbell, Kevin, Robert, Ryan and Elizabeth. Jean will be sadly missed by her brother Murray Mills (late Audrey) and his family Scott Mills (Patti), Catherine Mills Dailey (Darrell) and David Mills (Deanna). She will be fondly remembered by her great nieces and nephews and relatives in Germany. Jean was a Biology Professor at McMaster University where she was admired and well-respected by many students even in her retirement. Cremation has taken place. Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333 on Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 12 noon until time of Service of Remembrance to be held in the Chapel at 1 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home. Jean’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the kind doctors, nurses, and support workers that provided excellent care during her hospital stay. If desired, donations to Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation – Palliative Care, would be appreciated by the family.
