Douglas Mitchell
1930-2016
GALLOWAY, NB – Douglas Mitchell, age 86, of
Galloway passed away peacefully at the Rexton Lions Nursing Home on
Thursday, September 1, 2016. Born in Galloway, he was the
son of the late Walter Mitchell and late Essie (Walsh)
Mitchell. Before retiring, Douglas was employed as a school
bus driver for many years. He was the past president of the
Galloway Cemetery.
Douglas will be sadly missed by his loving wife, Carolyn
Mitchell of Galloway; three daughters, Deborah Lewis (Harold) of
Sussex, Donna Savage (Howard) of Calgary, Lisa Mitchell of Moncton;
four sons, Beverley Mitchell (Christine) of MASS, Garth Mitchell
(Chantal Melanson) of Moncton, Keith Mitchell (Chay McCallum), Kevin
Mitchell (Lisa) both of Calgary and thirteen
grandchildren.
He is also survived by three sisters, Grace Mitchell, Faye
Mitton (John) both of Moncton, Laveran Powers (Brian) of Riverview;
two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Mitchell of Galloway, Rita Mitchell of
Bryant’s Corner; three brothers, Leonard (Margaret) of
Galloway, Wilbert (Miriam) of Alberta, Terry (Carolyn) of Alberta and
many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers,
infant Claude, Kenneth and Lloyd.
Visitation will be held at Thompson’s Funeral Home
on Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service
will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 2:00 at the Victory
Baptist Church in Rexton and officiated by the Reverend Cecil
Symes. Donations made to the Galloway Cemetery Fund
or the Rexton Lions Nursing Home would be
appreciated by the family. Arrangements are in care of
Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto (523-4252).
