Cunningham, Douglas L. – Passed away peacefully in his sleep in his suite at the Seasons Retirement Residence in Welland on Friday, May 20th, 2016 in his 91st year. Beloved husband of the late Ruth Cunningham (2015) for 62 years. Loving son of the late Ada M. (Hagan) Cunningham (1985). Dear brother of Leah M. Campbell and brother-in-law of the late Roy Campbell (1992). Treasured Uncle of the Late Constance Lee (Campbell) Sirot (2012) wife of Gordon. Cherished Uncle of Colin Campbell and great-uncle to his sons Jonathan and Mark Douglas, all of Lindsay. Cherished Uncle of Maureen Clarke, Marilyn and Richard Judge, Nancy and David Mills. Loving great-uncle of Ritchie and Lakme, Matt and Angie, Tim and Shannon Judge, Kate Mills and Ross Galbraith, Matthew and Shannon Mills. Fun loving Gee Gee of Xavier, Rekha and James. Doug’s Grandfather Robert Hagan’s farm was near Bealton, Ontario. Young Doug couldn’t visit often enough and would move in with his grandparents, determined to learn farming, a passion at which he excelled. In later years he partnered with his Uncle Ernie Hagan and they bought the Oakland farm which was once owned by their Hagan cousins. After many successful years working together, Ernie passed away in 1979 and Doug and Ruth retired to their home in Mount Pleasant. Friends will be received at the BECKETT-GLAVES FAMILY FUNERAL CENTRE, 88 Brant Avenue on Friday from 12-1 pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Friday at 1 pm. Interment Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Reception and refreshments will be held at Mount Pleasant United Church after the interment. Donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
